Digital label - Sea Records

 After 3 years of navigating the streaming scene for music releases it has become clear that the old label structures are no longer workable. We have no more plans to manufacture physical product for retail release and will only make promotional custom samples available where appropriate.

All new digital releases for Sea Records artists in the Jazz, Folk, World Music genre, will fall under the Mountain Records label umbrella - with the Label Code - LC 061070.

 We have decided to consolidate future new releases normally released on the Sea Records label with our sister label Mountain Records.

Critical Quartet Experience - Young French Funksters

Two new digital releases have been slated for 2020 on the Sea Records label.
In January the French Jazz Funk quartet, Critical Quartet Experience issued their album and in June, the first single will be out.

The lads have advised us that their project has gone on ice after the huge stumbling block of the COVID pandemic put pay to the marketing plans and specifically their live release concert. We hope for better times.

Stellenbosch singer and composer Lesley Rae Dowling will have her forthcoming digital releases for the 2020 remix project, guesting on the Sea Records label. The productions are by producer Terence McCullagh and licensed to LTE for distribution.

SEA RECORDS

SEA RECORDS label is a sub-label of Mountain Records, a label started in Cape Town, South Africa in the early 1980s.

The first release was Robbie Jansen's VASTRAP ISLAND. Here a pic of the sleeve of the album, though as CD. The album was originally issued on Vinyl LP and Music Cassette.

The second release on Sea Records was the re-issue of Introducing Tony Schilder. Schilder was a bandleader who admired the work of Jonathan Butler who was engaged to produce the debut album by Schilder, though the musicians came from different generations. The album was issued on Vinyl LP. Tracks were taken from the original master plus new material for this CD only release pictured below.

Sea Records was envisaged as a Jazz label and several Hamburg based Jazz musicians licensed their productions to the label in the late 1980s and early 90s.

More recently Sea Records issued the Dhafer Youssef album - Digital Prophecy in conjunction with Enja/Jassics Music, South Africa.
